| In an
effort to keep the costs of gaming conventions to a minimum gaming
conventions by their very nature require a number of unpaid volunteers
to run smoothly. Like many gaming conventions no one, including
staff and organizers, involved in the Minnesota Gamers' Convention
will be paid in anyway. Volunteers work in one of two jobs at the
Minnesota Gamers’ Conventions; Central Desk volunteers and
Rovers as well as assisting the Convention staff in setup and teardown.
Every one of these jobs is important to make the convention run
as smooth as possible. If volunteers were replaced by paid workers
the cost of small to medium gaming conventions would skyrocket beyond
the reach of most convention participants and would probably end
gaming conventions as we know them. For more information see the
volunteering send an e-mail to volunteer@mgcon.org.
The volunteer schedule has been posted here.
There are still a large number of openings.
For volunteering information please check out the volunteer
pdf.
Benefits of Volunteering
Because you are helping us out we want to help you make the most
of your free time at the convention. When registering for events
volunteers will be moved to a higher priority category, following
those that judge or run an event at the convention, and before those
that submit events which were turned down, which is before those
that pre-register and finally those that select events at the convention.
The more time you volunteer for the higher your priority for registering
for other events.
Volunteer Prize Drawing
A $25 gift certificate will be awarded at random to an individual
who volunteers their time at the Minnesota Gamers’ Convention.
The drawing will be among all individuals who volunteered for one
or more shifts at the Minnesota Gamers’ Convention. Each volunteer
will be given one chance for each shift they volunteer for. Volunteers
who do not work for their scheduled shift at the convention are
not eligible for this prize. The prize will be awarded at the Minnesota
Gamers’ Convention on Sunday November 21st. Minnesota Gamers’
Staff members are not eligible for this drawing.
