Welcome to the Source Comics and Games and the St. Paul Irregulars Utah
Beach and Airborne Landings Game. We are glad that you have chosen to
join us in commemorating the Normandy Landings on June 6, 1944.
There were 5 landing Beaches (UTAH, OMAHA, GOLD, JUNO and SWORD) and
three airborne drops designed to pierce Hitler's Atlantic Wall and begin
the liberation of Europe.
Today we look upon the victory of the Western Allies over the German
Army as an inevitability - that was not the case in 1944. Britain had
run to the limits of its manpower. The British Liberation Army was the
last the British could raise. Disaster would mean a loss of the cream
of the Army.
The United States had fought an internal struggle as to whether the
priority for material should be Europe or Japan. One consequence of
a failed landing would be a change in focus, and perhaps a Berlin wall
on the Channel coast and not in Germany.
The game is meant as a simulation of larger problems in conducting sea
and airborne invasions as much as it is a skirmish game with a rapidly
learned set of rules. There will be a chain of command and the events
on one table will influence the others.
There will be problems with scattered paratroops and intermingled forces.
There will be problems taking bunkers and clearing resistance nests
and strongpoints. Finally there will be problems in coordinating air
operations and anti-landing operations. We hope that you take some time
to consider the enormity of what was done for all of us 60 years ago
while we play this game.
Registration and briefings begin at 0900 with play beginning at 1000.

July 27, 1944, Axis forces are retreating in the face
of an Allied breakout from Normandy. Allied command has assembled
an ad-hoc taskforce to occupy and hold the abandoned village of Percy,
France. Partisan intelligence indicates the town is not a soft target,
as a high ranking German officer and his highly motivated troops continue
to occupy and defend a communications bunker within the town. Too
bad the armored contingent didn’t get this intelligence before
they attempted to enter the village. So much for good intelligence,
Situation Normal…..

A noble has discovered evidence that an extremely powerful and ancient
suit of armor is lost in the underhive. The armor dates from the Dark
Age of Technology and was powerful for it's time, so the noble believes
that it easily outstretches anything produced today, even a Spyre rig.
This would make her the ultimate Matriarch. To this end she has sent
several Servo Skulls to search the underhive while she assembles a team
to go into the underhive and do the retrieval. At some point the Imperium
might find out about it and send in a team (Last Chancers, Inquisition,
whatever). THE ARTIFACT:
The armor has been scattered into it's constituent parts. While the
parts are solid and can't be broken by any means available to the underhive,
it was made to be disconnected at the joints for ease of wearing. There
are six (head, body, R & L arms, R & L legs) parts. Each part
has a different power (I haven't worked it all out yet, but arms: ranged
power, body: invulnerable save, head: wyrd power, legs: speed power).
What isn't known is that once the armor is donned it integrates into
the user and draws power from them and cannot be taken off while the
part being protected is still alive (so the victim wouldn't necessarily
have to die in order to give it up, but would loose a body part).
